In
\nOctober, a record-breaking 332,000 euros was donated to the Gift of Life cancer
\ntreatment foundation, the bulk of which for 7-year old Annabel\u2019s treatment. The
\nfoundation council approved of the funding of the treatment of 18 people \u2013 also
\na record-breaking number, 14 of whom are receiving the foundation\u2019s support for
\nthe first time. All in all the foundation covered 264,000 euros\u2019 worth of
\nmedical bills.
A gift of hope and a chance<\/b><\/p>\n
In
\nOctober we gave a helping hand to 7-year old Annabel, whose neuroblastoma
\ntreatment we fund with more than 170,000 euros in cooperation with the Estonian
\nAssociation of Parents of Children with Cancer.<\/p>\n
Our
\npublic call for supporting her treatment caused a veritable explosion of
\nkindness in Estonia, as more than 200,000 euros was donated within a day. Thanks
\nto Annabel we now have enough money for yet another child in need of
\nneuroblastoma treatment.<\/p>\n
Treatments of Rita and Ruth continue<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n
We
\nalso continued supporting 55-year old Rita Elur\u2019s lung cancer treatment in
\nOctober. The treatment that started in early spring is working. It costs nearly
\n5000 euros a month.<\/p>\n
Rita
\nwrites: \u201cI found out about my illness in November 2015, which truly
\nshocked me. Thanks to chemotherapy, followed by radiation therapy, my body was
\npurified of cancer, but then tumours appeared in my head. Analyses showed it
\nhad returned. As I was lying in the hospital, treatment with a medication
\ncompensated by the Gift of Life began. Thanks to the foundation, I can now say
\nthat the medication has stopped the cancer from spreading.<\/p>\n
Their
\nwork is priceless. It is a matter of life and death, but now, thanks to the
\nfoundation, I can live. My family, relatives and friends keep themselves
\nup to date with the foundation\u2019s activities and truly appreciate its work.\u201d<\/p>\n
We
\nalso continued supporting the treatment of 57-year old Ruth Alas. Her treatment
\ncosts more than 6500 euros over the coming two months.<\/p>\n

\nOctober we have also supported Grandpa Anatoli, who is fighting bowel cancer. His
\nmedication named Lonsurf costs nearly 5000 euros in the coming months. In 2014
\ndoctors discovered an advanced malignancy in his large intestine.<\/p>\n
\ndaughter, Anzela, writes: \u201cThere has been some good news during the
\nillness as well. Namely, in February 2016 Anatoli\u2019s only grandchild, Amelia
\nLinda, was born, whom we had been waiting for for nearly 14 years. Amelia
\nvisits her grandpa very often, to his delight, and wants to do so for a very
\nlong time. Every moment they spend together brings a smile to Anatoli\u2019s face. We
\nreally hope that the new medication will help and extend Anatoli\u2019s life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nfoundation funds the same medication, Lonsurf, for two women from Tallinn \u2013 one
\nof them a 59-year-old and another a 60-year-old.In both cases we contribute
\nnearly 5000 euros.<\/p>\n
\n80-year old grandfather from Haapsalu will receive a medication named Xofigo
\nthanks to the foundation\u2019s support, which will cost nearly 12,000 euros in the
\ncoming months. Another elderly man, this time from Rapla County, can rely on
\nthe foundation for purchasing a lung cancer medication named Everolimus. We
\nfund this with more than 6000 euros.<\/p>\n
\n67-year old woman from P\u00e4rnu is about to undergo treatment for multiple myeloma
\nthat costs nearly 50,000 euros per quarter, but she covers 50% of the costs by
\nherself.<\/p>\n
\n69-year old lady from Tallinn is going through nearly 9000 euros\u2019 worth of
\nbowel cancer treatment with benefactors\u2019 support.<\/p>\n
\nlung cancer treatment of Erik Saar, a 50-year old family man from Tartu, will
\nalso continue, costing nearly 5000 euros a month.<\/p>\n
\nthe beginning of the year the Gift of Life cancer treatment foundation and the
\nEstonian Association of Parents of Children with Cancer jointly funded the
\nneuroblastoma treatment of 5-year old Tauris with nearly 100,000 euros. The
\nlatest news from Tallinn Children\u2019s Hospital confirms that the treatment was
\nsuccessful and the boy is getting better!<\/p>\n

\nenjoys spending time in his kindergarten, with his friends and nice teachers. It
\nhas been three months since our last treatment and these have, naturally, been

\nsupport in the future, by donating a load of toy saws \u2013 200! We hand the

\neuros for cancer patients through donation boxes at the stations.<\/p>\n

\nEhitus, one of the oldest construction companies in Tartu, and Tevent, a
\nventilation works company, celebrated their anniversaries in the Estonian
\nAviation Academy on 13 October. The <\/a>jubilarian<\/a>s
\ndid not ask for gifts or flowers and instead asked the guests to donate to the
\nGift of Life cancer treatment foundation. All in all the partygoers donated
\nmore than 7900 euros for cancer patients.<\/p>\n
\nfamilies from the R\u00f5\u00f5mukool baby school in J\u00f5hvi collected bottles for four
\nmonths to support cancer patients. The raised 360 euros was donated to the
\ncancer treatment foundation to help cancer patients from Ida-Viru County.<\/p>\n

\nOctober we participated basketball games in Rapla and Tartu. Spectators of Avis
\nUtilitas and University of Tartu game in Rapla raised more than 600 euros via
\ndonations and charity auction and spectators of University of Tartu and Kalev
\nCramo game in Tartu donated 700 euros.<\/p>\n
\nvolunteers raised nearly 3000 euros in donations in Stockmann, \u00dclemiste and
\nTartu L\u00f5unakeskus shopping centres.<\/p>\n
\nheld two wonderful auctions in October, whose proceeds went to cancer patients.<\/p>\n
\nfrom Saaremaa donated a self-made quilt to us in memory of her sister, which we
\nput up for auction with a starting price 99 euros. The quilt was bought with
\n1470 euros.<\/p>\n

\nHusqvarna Estonia. The robot lawnmower was put up for action with 99 euros and

\nGift of Life visited the celebrations of eight parties and election coalitions
\nin Tallinn in the evening of Election Day, where politicians donated nearly \u20ac3000
\nfor cancer patients.<\/p>\n
